UEFA has reduced ticket prices in this season’s Champions League to 60 euros, with a major reduction promised for the next campaign. European football’s governing body confirmed the change to the ticket price on Monday, following a weekend dominated by discussions around ticket pricing for Oasis’ reunion gigs next summer and the England vs Sri Lanka cricket match at Lord’s.

From next season Champions League away tickets will be reduced to 50 euros as UEFA and its president Aleksander Ceferin tries to ensure supporters feel valued and recognized.

The decision was made after consultation with the European Club Association Supporters of Europe (FSE). FSE president Ronan Eveyn said: “The modified cap on ticket prices is further recognition of how crucial away fans are to the atmosphere at European club matches.

From this season, the Champions League and Europa League are played under a different format, with 36 teams instead of 32, and with 144 games in the first phase of the competition instead of the previous 96, Beta writers.

The new rule “underscores UEFA’s commitment to making European football more accessible and affordable for all supporters.”

Football Supporters Europe (FSE), a fan advocacy group, praised the revised price caps as a step in the right direction. The reduced prices will help to make European club fixtures more affordable for travelling fans.

Ronan Evain, representing Football Supporters Europe (FSE), which was involved in the consultations, added, “The revised price caps are further recognition of how integral away fans are to the atmosphere of European club fixtures.”

UEFA’s decision to lower the price caps demonstrates its commitment to improving the overall match experience for fans and fostering a more inclusive environment for European football.

Nasser Al-Khelaifi, ECA chairman and president of Paris Saint-Germain, said the cap was an “important signal” from ECA member clubs “in actively contributing to improving the overall match experience for fans”.
