India Women vs UAE Women: India’s Women’s Cricket team dominated the United Arab Emirates in the Asia Cup T20 match, posting a massive 201 runs and restricting them to 123. Read for details and player performances.
India’s Women in Blue continued their dominance in the Women’s Asia Cup T20 with a resounding 78-run victory over the United Arab Emirates Women on Sunday. Batting first after losing the toss, India put up a mammoth total of 201 runs for the loss of just five wickets, thanks to some brilliant batting performances.
Opener Smriti Mandhana got India off to a flying start, but her dismissal for 27 runs brought young talent Shafali Varma to the crease. While Varma fell cheaply, the experienced duo of skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and wicketkeeper-batsman Richa Ghosh took center stage. Kaur played a captain’s knock, scoring a gritty 66 runs off 47 balls, while Ghosh exploded with a phenomenal knock of 64 runs off just 29 deliveries. Their crucial partnership of 75 runs in the latter half of the innings propelled India to a seemingly unassailable total. Deepti Sharma also chipped in with a valuable 22 runs lower down the order.
For the UAE Women, the chase proved to be a bridge too far. Despite a cautious start from openers Theertha Satish and Esha Oza, wickets began to tumble regularly. The Indian bowling attack, led by the pace duo of Renuka Singh and Pooja Vastrakar, shared the spoils effectively. Deepti Sharma continued her all-around performance with two wickets, while Radha Yadav and Tanuja Kanwar picked up one wicket each. The UAE batters could only manage 123 runs in their allotted 20 overs, falling short by a significant margin.
This win consolidates India’s position at the top of Group A in the Women’s Asia Cup T20. They will look to continue their winning momentum in their upcoming matches. The UAE Women, on the other hand, will need to regroup and learn from their mistakes as they aim to bounce back in the tournament.
