Kansas High School Wrestling Crowns State Champions

The Kansas state high school wrestling championships concluded on February 24th, with champions being crowned across all classifications at the 2024 KSHSAA State Wrestling Championships. The tournament, held at Park City-Hartman Arena for Class 6A and Salina-Tony’s Pizza Events Center for Classes 5A through 1A, showcased fierce competition and thrilling battles on the mat.

Dominant Performances across the Classes

Class 6A:

In Class 6A, the Blue Valley West Jaguars emerged as the victors, claiming their first-ever state championship title. The team displayed an outstanding performance, finishing with a dominant score of 174.5 points, leaving runner-up Olathe South behind with 139 points.

Class 5A:

Class 5A witnessed a close battle between the top contenders. Ultimately, the Staley Falcons edged out the field with a total of 118.5 points, narrowly defeating runner-up Washburn Rural (115.5 points) and third-place finisher Andover (113 points).

Class 4A:

The Coffeyville Red Ravens secured the top spot in Class 4A, claiming their first state championship since 2018. The team showcased their skills and determination, finishing with a score of 128 points. Runner-up Buhler (119.5 points) and third-place finisher McPherson (109 points) also displayed impressive performances.

Class 3A:

In Class 3A, the Southeast of Saline Trojans dominated the competition, finishing with a commanding 172 points. This victory marked their fourth consecutive state championship title. The runner-up spot went to Wabaunsee (122 points), followed by Norton (109 points) in third place.

Class 1A:

Class 1A saw the Clay Center Tigers secure their first-ever state championship title with a score of 133 points. The team showcased their talent and determination throughout the tournament. Runner-up Columbus (128 points) and third-place finisher Nemaha Valley (102.5 points) also displayed impressive performances.

Individual Champions Shine
